Audition Report

Last week The Drama department began the process of create the Christmas Production, holding auditions in the Hall after school.

There was an amazing turn out, with 160 pupils auditioning! All of the Theatre Prefects and the Teachers were overwhelmed not just by the numbers- but also the talent and enthusiasm from show. Particularly amazing was the 60 year 7 students that were there (only a week into their time at their new school) and how well they responded to feedback and notes from teachers and sixth formers. It is encouraging for the future Plays and Musicals at BGS that there is so much enthusiasm in year 7; ensure you maintain this!

The hilarious slapstick scenes created by the auditionees It will certainly be one of the highlights of all of our years, where the Lost Boys continually out-witted the Pirates. Many of the moments will certainly go in the play- moments that have been devised by the pupils, and are far funnier and more creative than anything us adults can think up!

After some very hard decisions were made- Jack Dalton (year 11) and Madison Wright (year 12) will be sharing the role of Peter Pan (alternative nights and the matinee for local schools), Sascha Dodd (year 11) and Jaime Phipps (year 12) will share the role of Wendy, Lilliy Ratchford-Holt and James Cook (both year12) will be Captain Hook and Maddie Edbon (year 10) and Kitty Munro (year 11) Tinkerbell. Lewis Watson and Ella Tournes (year 12s, who will play Mr and Mrs Darling) also produced the funniest audition anyone in the room had ever seen! There are about 60 other amazingly talented pupils also in the cast, too many to list- but certainly ready to steal the show on any given night.

Anyone in year 7, 8 or 9 can still be involved in the play if they attend Drama club after school on Mondays- where you will be devising an immersive experience to go before the play and in the interval.

We will be updating you on the shows progress over the next few weeks, so be ready for photos of flying Lost Boys, Dancing Mermaids and Mr Darling struggling with his tie

Peter Pan will be on December 2nd ,3rd and 4th December, tickets available soon.
