General audition for EVERYBODY who wants to be in the cast is on FRIDAY 10th November: 3.05-5pm in the HALL. Please wear loose, comfy clothing suitable for moving, and bring trainers/dance shoes.
Be prepared to learn a song & some movement & then perform it, and read a scene with a group.
This is compulsory for everyone, irrespective of which part you would like to audition for!
If you are in Y7-11 and you would like to audition to be in the 'School of Rock onstage band' please film yourself on a phone/ipad doing the following:
If you are in Y11-13 and play piano, guitar, bass or drums, or sing with a band, and would like to be considered for the roles of Doug/Bob/Theo (the members of Dewey's band 'No Vacancy'- names easily changed if you're a girl who doesn't want to be Doug/Bob/Theo!), please also submit a video following the instructions above. If you are part of an existing band who would like to be considered, send us a video of your band playing! No Vacancy play 3 songs in the show, and don't really have any lines to say, so if you are a musician rather than an actor this could be perfect!
If you play guitar and want to audition for 'Dewey', please send us a video of you playing guitar. Not being able to play the guitar (or play it well) isn't a deal-breaker - we are considering playing his guitar parts from the pit band!
Following the audition on 10th November, there will be callbacks the following week for students (particularly Y10-13 for speaking/singing principal roles) and also some auditions for the younger speaking/singing roles.

School of Rock PIT BAND: will be by invitation only, from students who are currently part of BGS musical ensembles. Please talk to Mr Laing if you would like to be considered.

If you are in Y7-11 and you would like to audition to be in the 'School of Rock onstage band' please film yourself on a phone/ipad doing the following:
- Start off by telling us your name and form, and the instrument you play.
- If you play bass guitar, acoustic/electric guitar, piano, and/or drums, please film yourself playing a brief song on your instrument of choice - pop/rock if possible. If you play more than one of these instruments, we are happy to see you play as many as you'd like!
- Then we need to hear you sing. Please choose 1-2 minutes of a pop/rock song and film yourself, either while playing your instrument, or with different accompaniment (e.g. backing track) or simply sing a capella. **Everyone who sends an audition video Lawrence, Zack, Freddie or Katie needs to send a video of themselves singing; however, you won't actually have to sing on your own if you don't want to if you are cast as one of these roles - we can easily allocate your solo singing to others in the cast - but you must be happy to sing and play whilst in a group!**
- If you have video footage from a recent performance where you are playing solo, we are happy to watch that instead.
- Please upload your video/s to Google Drive and share them with the Director, Miss Swadkin ([email protected]) BEFORE 14th November.
