The Videos are below.

Once you have watched your group, go to the comments and post 3 ways you can improve your performance. Think about-

  • Characterisation
  • Relationship
  • Mime
  • effect on the audience
  • variety in voice

Remember to make a note or cut and paste the comments so that you have a record of them too.

You did excellently today, i was very impressed- well done.

ps- you might want to make the video larger when you watch it so that you can have a good view of your performance

Things to improve on:
1. Work on miming the stubbing of the cigarette out properly and clearly
2. Use proxemics more effectively to show how I feel about/towards my partner
3. Make my body language and actions bigger and more obvious to really show how I'm feeling

Very clear and achievable targets. I am sure you will have no problem implementing these and improving your performance

Three ways that I can improve my performance -

1. To vary my tone of voice, depending on my characters emotions. In this performance, I could have used my tone of voice more to fully express Elyot's growing frustration with Amanda as the scene progressed. My tone stays relatively similar throughout the performance, which is not effective as it does not accurately portray Elyot's feelings.

2. To aim to use proxemics more in a scene to show my character's relationship with another character. In this scene, Elyot and Amanda do still have feelings for each other (despite their arguments). I could have had moments where I was much closer to Bethany, instead of there being a large gap between us, showing that deep down our characters still cared for each other.

3. I could have possibly tried to act more masculine. I found it a little challenging, but I have to make sure that I completely become the character I am playing (in this case Elyot). This includes not only my voice (which could have potentially been deeper) but also in the way I move and sit. I had a few feminine characteristics in this performance, especially when sitting down which I feel had a negative effect on the scene.

Excellent Sophie, insightful with good detail.

You have done first class work with both the acting and evaluating of this task, you should be very pleased.

Star⭐️: I think I showed how I didn't want to be there by my facial expressions and how I rolled my eyes when chloe (Amanda) spoke.

Wish🌠: to improve I think I should keep my posh accent the whole time because near the end I started I speak like a 14 year old girl. Also, I could also speak with a deeper voice when playing a man and work on making my posture more manly because I still look feminine by the way I sit and stand.

Wish🌠: I could also sit further away from chloe and distance myself a bit more to show the relationship between us.

I love the pictures Lauren, nice touch.

I was after 3 wishes, but don't worry about this time.

Improvements;

1. I could have used my body and proxemics more to show more clearly that I didn't like Lauren.

2. To improve I could also make sure I finished and exaggerated certain processes more e.g putting the fan away I could have folded it and set it down instead of just dropping it onto the table.

3. I could also have worked on my pronunciation to make sure each word was clear and precise, this would of enhanced my accent and made me sound more posh.

Things I need to improve on:

1. I need to mime lighting the cigarette, smoking and putting out the cigarette better. I should make my movements more clear and precise, and I should also make sure that I don't forget about my cigarette at any point.

2. I need to have more variation in my tone, and I need to use my tone to be more expressive. When I am angry or upset I need to show this more, at the moment my tone of voice sounds the same throughout most of the scene.

3. I should vary where I'm looking and I should change it depending on what is happening. Instead of just staring at Sophie the whole time I could have looked away more to show disinterest. Also, I could have looked around more and checked the balcony/room out more.

1. I should have used proxemics to reveal more to the audience about the relationships between characters.
2 I need to make my mimes more defined and obvious as well as finishing them as it seemed at I would just lose the mime as I was fininshing it
3 I should have fixed my eye contact on the other charcter as my eyes dridyed in between lines and this made the conversation seem scripted and it did not flow which impacts the audience negatively

1) I could try to improve my characterisation by pronouncing my words more clearly, with clearer diction and by exaggerating some sounds such as vowels, therefore portraying that I am a posh character.

2) I could also vary my miming actions as i mostly just mime smoking a cigarette but to make the character more interesting to watch I could show that i was doing more things or make larger gestures.

3) Finally, I could show more depth to the relationship, rather than just hatred. I could try to have a slightly affectionate approach to some parts of the conversation such as when Jenna asks if i want a cocktail, i could look reminiscent about all the past cocktails they've shared perhaps? Just to show another side to the pair.
