Section A: Music theory (15 minutes)
Here you will need to identify note names (C, D, E, F, G, A, B), and note lengths (e.g. quaver, crotchet, minim, semibreve, and their rests). You can use this website to practice identifying note names: : MusicTheory.net
Section B: Listening (30 minutes)
The 2nd section of the exam will link to the topics you have studied this year. There will be one question on each of:
- Pachelbel's Canon
- Gamelan music or African music (depending on which you've studied, but most will do Gamelan)
- Film Music
- Unprepared question (pop song)
There is some information in the document below to help you revise each topic. The best thing you can do is LISTEN to music from these different genres (ask your parents if you can use Spotify or YouTube to help you find some pieces).
