Lots of you missed this, so worth looking at the powerpoint attached-
The text we did was from the 'York Cycle' and called 'Adam and Eve' We concluded that Adam was far too quick to put the blame on Eve and that Otley was a brilliant voice of God. We saw John by DV8 Physical Theatre... There is a page about that here.
Play list available here, a few plays and films that use a greek chorus in the traditional style-
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZZUCgq8LfhY&list=PLl7VBwJ7PfUDlvTcFxo6QJM6hwpltC2Yy On the week that commorated Abi's 17th day of birth, we also went to see Camera Lucida created and directed by Dickie Beau.
I made a page for the A Level you may wish to use here- http://www.bgsperformingarts.com/camera-lucida.html When logging, consider the following How the actors created the robotic avatars and the possession The use of multi-media and playback Use of lighting sound and costume and how this effects the audience effect created for the audience How can you use this in your work. Hope you have all finally recovered! We looked at Commedia... Everything we wen through (and more) is on these pages-
http://www.bgsperformingarts.com/commedia-dellarte.html and http://www.bgsperformingarts.com/a-servant-of-two-masters.html The play we looked at was 'A Servant of Two Masters' by Carlo Goldini, if you chose to do this as the style for your presentation, you can use this as your play. We do have some other plays if you want variety. Otley Vampire Lips! SO we looked at Makeup- specifically the stage makeup used by French Mime artists, Steven Berkoff and Kabuki. I told you stuff, you should write it down... Remember things other than Chris' vampire lips (Or that he had Smokey eyes for the rest of the day) UiSo... As you felt your research into The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui was, at best, a 3/8- here is my gift to you all... https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=arturo+ui+talk several lectures on Ui here! Anything that says preview available here or preview here, also on google books You want more...
This has a good glossary of terms and I think is in the process of being built into a fairly detailed website.
www.stagelightingprimer.com/ Our website looks better though...
I'd do a detailed account to set the scene, but as a fan of Berkoff I feel too much scene setting detracts from the acting- so I won't.
We looked at stage design today- the PowerPoint is in the link above and the picture of how you responded to the Blood Brother's stage is below. Rosie- you missed a cracker! ...But then, you can just look at the powerpoint and you'd have the same learning, just with less bad jokes in between slides The book that we watched the DVD from last week (Draaaaaaahmah) is called 'Stage Lighting- The Technicians' by Skip Mort. You are welcome to borrow it. feel free to comment... Otley |
